Our Origin Story – How a Lifetime of Love Became a Calling

Some businesses begin with an idea. Mine began with a heartbeat.

My name is Suzie Crawford, and for almost thirty years, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels have shaped my life, my routines, my home, and my heart. From the moment I brought home my first Cavalier, Jesse, at 23 years old, I knew that my life would always revolve around these gentle, soulful little dogs. He was my first true companion, the one who walked beside me through the early years of adulthood and taught me what unconditional love really feels like.

Soon after came Jemma; wise, loving, and the quiet anchor of our family for 16 and a half beautiful years. Losing her was one of the hardest moments of my life, but her spirit continues to guide me in everything I do. She is a part of this story just as much as I am.

In 2002, little Maxi arrived. From day one he was full of personality; cheeky, cuddly, and completely convinced he ruled the household. His presence lit up our lives and reminded me again that Cavaliers don’t just join your family… they become your family.

And then, in October of 2015, came the moment that would shape everything that followed.

We received a call asking if we could take in two Cavaliers; rescues who needed to stay together. Their names were Monty and Coco. Their background was unclear and they had been surrendered to the Animal Welfare League with a plea that they be rehomed as a pair. Cavalier Rescue stepped in, placed them in foster care, and soon after, they arrived at our door.

Nothing could have prepared us for their condition.

Monty weighed an astonishing 19 kilograms; more than double what a dog his size should have been. Coco, too, was struggling with significant weight issues and the physical and emotional signs of neglect. They were tired. They were fragile. And they were desperately in need of love.

What they didn’t know is that they had just reached the place where their lives would change forever.

We gave them structure, gentle care, healthier routines, healthy nutrition, and endless affection. And slowly, we watched the light return to their eyes. Their weight dropped, their energy grew, and their personalities bloomed. They became part of our family — not rescues anymore, but cherished companions.

Chloe — The Living Bridge

Within the space of just eighteen months, we said goodbye to Maxi, Monty, and Coco as age quietly claimed them … and then came Chloe.
Not a Cavalier by breed, but a Cavoodle whose heart carries everything the Cavaliers taught me about love, sensitivity, loyalty, and connection. Chloe arrived not to replace what had been lost, but to carry it forward … a living bridge between past and present. Through her, the spirit of Jesse, Jemma, Maxi, Monty, and Coco continues to be felt in everyday moments: in her gentleness, her intuition, her joy, and her deep emotional awareness. Chloe is where memory meets renewal; a reminder that love does not end, but evolves, finding new ways to walk beside us.

I realised that my entire adult life every dog, every moment of joy, every challenge, every heartbreak, every lesson had prepared me for something bigger. I wanted to create a space for people who shared this deep connection with Cavaliers … a space filled with warmth, support, education, inspiration, and community.

And that is how this business was born. Not from a business plan, but from a lifetime of love. Not from strategy, but from the stories of Jesse, Jemma, Maxi, Monty, Coco and Chloe.

This is more than a website. This is a home for Cavalier lovers. A community built on real experience, real care, and real heart.

My hope is that through this business, through the resources, the membership, the stories, and the connection you’ll feel the same warmth that these dogs have given me for nearly thirty years.
